GE LAUNCHES ONLINE SUPPLY CHAIN SOFTWARE
GE Operation Services, a division of giant General Electric Co., has developed a new supply chain management suite it calls GE Global VMI to give companies online access to inventory management, forecast broadcasting and logistics analysis services.
GE says it will link companies with their suppliers via the Internet, providing real-time visibility of inventory levels and trends throughout a supply chain. The service includes Six Sigma data analysis functions for optimizing inventory levels, usage and transit times.
GE said the service is a turn-key solution, meaning that agreements include all hardware installation and training. GE Global VMI comes with data and communication hardware, sensors for vessels, full installation, programming and a three-year warranty for hardware.
