GE TO INVEST IN FREIGHTWISE
FreightWise, an online logistics start-up based in Fort Worth, Texas, has signed an equity agreement with General Electric Co.
Details of the deal, which is expected to close by October, were not disclosed.
FreightWise provides mulitmodal transportation load-matching services via the Internet. The company said it allows users to complete an entire transaction online from quote to financial settlement.
“We believe FreightWise is well positioned to bring greater efficiency and asset utilization to the transportation industry,” said John Krenicki, president and chief executive officer of GE Transportation Systems. “By becoming a strategic investor in FreightWise and actively participating in the online exchange, GE will expand its presence in technology and services that will bring greater productivity and on-time performance to the transportation industry.”
