GENCO PARTNERS WITH TRANSPLACE

GENCO PARTNERS WITH TRANSPLACE

GENCO Distribution Systems, a Pittsburgh-based third-party logistics firm, has formed an alliance with Transplace.com, an Internet-based transportation logistics company.

The alliance pairs GENCO's forward and reverse logistics service and technology with Transplace's Dense Network Efficiency system, a Web-enabled platform designed to bring together shippers and carriers to collaborate on their transportation logistics planning and execution to optimize freight, reduce network costs and improve services system-wide.

GENCO, which operates 13 million square feet of warehouse space throughout North America, said the alliance “does not preclude the two companies from partnering with other companies with similar value propositions.”

Transplace, based in Plano, Texas, was founded through the merger of logistics business units from truckload carriers Covenant Transport, J.B. Hunt Transport, M.S. Carriers, Swift Transportation, U.S. Xpress and Werner Enterprises.
