GENESSEE & WYOMING TO BUY SOUTH BUFFALO RAILWAY
Genesee & Wyoming Inc. has signed an agreement with Bethlehem Steel Corp. to acquire the South Buffalo Railway (South Buffalo) for $33.1 million in cash and $3.3 million in assumed liabilities.
South Buffalo operates more than 52 miles of owned track in Buffalo, N.Y. with connections to Class I carriers including CSX Corp., Norfolk Southern Corp., Canadian National Railway Co. and Canadian Pacific Ltd.
The primary products hauled by the South Buffalo include stamped auto parts, galvanized steel and other specialized bar steel products.
