Gibson Dunn announces homecoming for Bonner

Robert Bonner, who is scheduled to retire as U.S. Customs and Border Protection commissioner in two weeks, will return to private law practice at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, the firm said.

Bonner was a partner in Gibson Dunn’s Los Angeles office in 1993-2001.

Bonner announced his resignation in late September, and said he wanted to return to California to spend more time with his family. He indicated shortly thereafter that he probably would return to Gibson Dunn.

The law firm said Bonner would work out of the Los Angeles and Washington offices, where he would be a litigator and continue to take a policy role in homeland security, international trade and customs issues.
