Globe Express to open Ningbo office

   Globe Express Services, a provider of freight forwarding and cargo management software, is opening a new office in Ningbo.

   The Ningbo office will become fully operational May 18, and will increase Globe’s number of corporate facilities in China to seven, including other offices in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Xiamen, Tianjin and Qingdao.

   Located south of Shanghai, Ningbo has a natural deepwater port that aims to become a major deep-draft container port for the Yangtze Delta and its hinterland.

   “Global sourcing trends indicate that importers/exporters are reaching deeper into China,” said Tony Bikhazi, Globe’s executive vice president U.S. and Latin America. “While Shanghai has traditionally served as the gateway for this region, Globe Express has chosen to address expanding alternative port volumes via a corporate presence in such emerging areas.”

   Globe said it plans to open more offices in China and Southeast Asia during the rest of the year.
