Gonzßlez named ICAO president
The Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization yesterday elected Roberto Kobeh Gonz'lez as president, succeeding Assad Kotaite.
Gonz'lez’s one-year term is effective Aug. 1. The other nomination for president was former ICAO secretary general Philippe Rochat.
The Montreal-based ICAO is a United Nations organization responsible for coordinating aviation safety and technical standards for nearly 200 member countries.
Kotaite had been president of ICAO for 11 terms since 1976.
