GRIMALDI AMENDS EUROPE/EAST COAST SOUTH AMERICA SERVICE

   Naples-based Grimaldi Lines is dropping the Brazilian port of Itajai and the U.K. port of Southampton as direct calls on its fortnightly north Europe/East Coast South America multipurpose service.

   The 1,325-TEU vessel Grande America made the last call at Itajai when it sailed on Nov. 4. The last direct call to Southampton will be made by Repubblica di Genova on Nov. 12, after which the port will be served via Tilbury.

   The revised service port rotation is Tilbury, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Bilbao, Salvador, Vitoria, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Buenos Aires, Zarate, Paranagua, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Tilbury, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre and Bilbao.

   Brazilian carrier Global Transporte Oceanico takes space from Grimaldi on this service and another two strings from the Mediterranean to South America.
