HALIFAX NARROWS CHOICES FOR TERMINAL OPERATOR
'The Halifax Port authority said it has narrowed to four its list of potential operators for its Fairview Cove Container Terminal.
The port will enter into negotiations with the four bidders, seeking a long-term contract to operate the terminal.
* The finalists are Cerescorp Co., Montreal, and NYK (North America) Inc., New Jersey.
* CSX World Terminals LLC, Charlotte, N.C., and Logistec Stevedoring Inc., Montreal.
* P&O Ports North America, New Jersey.
* Terminal Systems Inc., Vancouver B.C.
'These candidates are four of the key terminal operators in the world,' said Karen Oldfield, president and chief executive officer of the port authority. 'The quality of their initial proposals speaks to the commitment they are willing to make to the Port of Halifax and the long-term growth potential of the port.'
