Hanjin changing Asia-ECSA service
Hanjin Shipping said Tuesday it will change its service between Asia and the East Coast of South America effective July 30, taking space on Evergreen vessels as part of a slot exchange agreement.
Hanjin is part of the CKYH alliance, along with 'K' Line and Yang Ming Line, that offers service between the U.S. East Coast ports of New York/New Jersey and Savannah and the ECSA, and Evergreen earlier this week said it would begin using space on those vessels.
Hanjin had been chartering space on Mitsui O.S.K. Line vessels between Asia and the ECSA, but will discontinue that relationship.
The new service being marketed by Hanjin as the New Asia South American Express is part of an effort by the Korea-based carrier to increase direct services between Asia and South America.
'Hanjin Shipping will further seek to expand its service network and add new service routes in South America, where economic growth is slowly driving up the volume,' the company said in a statement.
