Korean ocean carrier Hanjin Shipping has joined the joint weekly Asia/Mideast/Indian subcontinent Gulf Asia Line Express service of CMA CGM, Contship Containerlines and Samudera Shipping Line. Norasia Container Lines also takes space on the service.
The first sailing with Hanjin on board as a service partner was made by ‘MC Sapphire’ when it departed from Port Kelang on Jan. 5.
The GALEX service uses four vessels with approximately 1,000-TEU capacity. The port rotation is Port Kelang, Singapore, Nhava Sheva, Jebel Ali, Khor Fakkan, Karachi, Nhava Sheva, Cochin, Tuticorin, Port Kelang and Singapore.
APL made the decision at the end of last year to pull out of the service to concentrate on its own services in the trade, namely the Red Sea Express and West Asia Express services.
