Hanjin Shipping to deploy 8,000-TEU ships in transpacific

   Seoul-based Hanjin Shipping will phase in two 8,000-TEU containerships in the transpacific trade, from July.

   Built by Hyundai Heavy Industries, the “Hanjin Boston” and the “Hanjin Miami” will join the weekly Pacific Express Service-PSX July 10 and Aug. 7, respectively. The ships each are 300 meters long, 42.8 meters wide and have a maximum speed of 25.2 knots.

   The vessels, both long-term charters from Conti Reederei, are the first two of five 8,000-TEU class vessels due to be delivered to Hanjin this year.

   CKYH alliance partner Yang Ming takes space on the PSX loop. The port rotation is Yantian, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Kwangyang, Busan, Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle, Busan and back to Yantian.
