Hapag-Lloyd beginning service to Africa in October
Hapag-Lloyd will start a weekly service from Europe to South Africa in October.
The company said it will charter space from Mediterranean Shipping Co., rather than charting its own ships for the new service.
“As a result of the cooperation with MSC, we can offer our customers considerable service improvements with fixed-day weekly sailings and refrigerated cargo capacity,” said Tony Firmin, managing director ships and container management of Hapag-Lloyd.
Hapag-Lloyd formed its own organization in South Africa in July, and has offices in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg. The area is managed by Gudrun Feil, based in Durban.
