HAYES NAMED VICE CHAIRMAN OF HOUSE AVIATION SUBCOMMITTEE
U.S. Rep. Robin Hayes, R-N.C., has been named the new vice chairman of the House Aviation Subcommittee. He replaces Rep. John Cooksey, R-La., who resigned from the committee earlier this year.
The subcommittee has jurisdiction over all aspects of civil aviation, including oversight of the Transportation Security Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board, and aviation security and international issues. This jurisdiction includes all aspects of the Federal Aviation Administration (except for research activities), which are within the jurisdiction of the Science Committee.
Hayes, who represents the eighth district of North Carolina, has been a licensed pilot and is a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., is chairman of the Subcommittee, which has 46 members.
