Higher jet fuel prices force Lufthansa to raise fuel surcharge

Higher jet fuel prices force Lufthansa to raise fuel surcharge

Lufthansa Cargo said it is raising its worldwide fuel surcharge to 0.15 euros (18 cents) per kilo of actual freight weight, effective 18 December 2003.

The increase reflects the rising price of kerosene used to produce jet fuel. Lufthansa adds a surcharge whenever its fuel price index, which is used as a benchmark by many other air carriers, stays above a certain threshold for two consecutive weeks.
