HIT ADDING 16 CONTAINER STACKERS
Hong Kong International Terminals (HIT) has taken delivery of eight rubber tired gantry cranes. The eight cranes are the first of a total of 16, the rest to be delivered in mid-December.
The new cranes, manufactured by ZPMC in Shanghai, can stack containers one over six high. Each crane uses global positioning systems, position determination systems, gantry jack up mechanisms and four gantry motors. HIT’s anti-truck lifting system will be installed on each.
HIT is the largest container terminal operator in Hong Kong, accounting for over 50 percent of the throughput at the Kwai Chung Container Port.
