HITACHI SELECTS VASTERA SOFTWARE TO SCREEN CUSTOMERS
Hitachi Software Global Technology Inc., a provider of imaging and vectorization applications that extract data from satellite transmissions, has contracted with Vastera, a provider of trade management solutions, to use its TradeSphere software to screen potential clients and trading partners.
“Following the events of Sept. 11, security has become an even bigger concern for companies distributing satellite imagery,” said Fuminobu Komura, president of Hitachi Software Global Technology, which is based in Westminster, Colo. “To ensure that we keep pace with this rapidly growing list of restricted parties, HSGT is moving from a manual screening process to an automated one.”
Komura's company will use TradeSphere to screen the names of all parties involved in a sale for export at the time an order is placed, as well as just before a shipment and several times after shipment. Vastera’s software uses proprietary algorithms to detect aliases, checking all orders against an updated list consolidated from different U.S. agencies, and then flags any matches.
Vastera, based in Dulles, Va., provides tools and services for Ford, Visteon, Dell, Microsoft and Nortel Networks, among other clients.
