HONG KONG LOGISTICS GROUP TAKES STOCK OF SARS OUTBREAK
The Hong Kong Logistics Development Council, a public/private group, discussed the severe acute respiratory syndrome at a meeting on Thursday (April 24).
Stephen Ip, secretary for economic development and labor of Hong Kong, and chairman of the logistics council, said that the impact of the SARS outbreak on daily operations “has been minimal, and the overall performance of the freight industry remains strong.”
Despite concerns over safety and the cancelation of corporate travel to China and Hong Kong, the logistics council plans to organize logistics conferences in Hong Kong targeting an international audience later this year.
