Horizon anticipates eventual vessel replacements
Horizon Lines Inc., an ocean container shipping and logistics company serving U.S. domestic markets in Alaska, Hawaii, Guam and Puerto Rico, has 'well-defined plans' for updating its aging fleet, but will not disclose specifics at this time, according to Charles G. 'Chuck' Raymond, Horizon's president and chief executive officer.
For the rest of 2006, Horizon Lines will focus on paying down debt, Raymond said in a statement.
The company will also grow through acquisitions in the near future that 'will not be small deals,' he explained.
In addition, Horizon Lines has been exploring prospects for short sea shipping along U.S. coasts and even on intercoastal waterways, the company noted.
