Horizon Lines assigns role for Handy, makes management changes
Former U.S. Transportation Command chief Gen. John W. Handy has been appointed executive vice president at Horizon Lines.
Handy joined the company September in an unspecified role. He will be responsible for improving profitability and efficiency, business development and grooming new management.
Handy’s appointment is part of a number of changes Horizon Lines has made to its senior management team. John Keenan will now serve as Horizon Lines’ senior vice president and chief transportation officer. He was senior vice president and chief operating officer. He will remain in Dallas with responsibility for Horizon Lines’ ocean and land based transportation activities.
Brian Taylor has been promoted to senior vice president, sales and marketing. He was vice president and general manager of Horizon Lines’ Hawaii/Guam service. In his new role, he was will assume responsibility for developing sales and marketing plans and managing the carriers North American sales.
Kevin Gill will serve as vice president, marketing, reporting to Taylor. Gill was director, marketing and pricing, Puerto Rico trade.
Mar Labrador will take over Taylor’s former position as head of the Hawaii trade.
Glen Moyer has been promoted to vice president and general manager, ocean transportation services with responsibility for the operation of Horizon Lines’ fleet of 16 container ships.
