Horizon Lines expanding box fleet

Horizon Lines said it would add 1,200 new 45-foot shipping containers in October as part of an ongoing equipment investment program.

Since the beginning of 2007, Horizon has ordered 2,200 new dry containers, including the new 45-foot dry containers and 600 new 40-foot high-cube boxes.

The company also has added more than 1,000 new high-cube refrigerated containers including 40-foot reefers and 45-foot reefers specifically for use in the Puerto Rico trade.

Horizon said it has also added more than 235 flat-racks in the Pacific services, particularly to Hawaii, where this oversized cargo shipping equipment is especially useful for construction and heavy equipment shippers.
