Horizon Lines orders 900 additional refrigerated containers
Horizon Lines, a U.S. ocean carrier based in Charlotte, N.C., has ordered an additional 900 new high-cube refrigerated containers for delivery in November.
This latest acquisition is part of a container reinvestment program that began last December with the delivery to Horizon Lines of 300 refrigerated containers. The new equipment will be used throughout the carrier's network, which includes Alaska, Hawaii, Guam and Puerto Rico.
'In recent months, we have added a crane and new terminal handling equipment in Hawaii, two new cranes in Puerto Rico, and now, 1,200 new refrigerated containers to our 5,000-unit refrigerated fleet,' said Charles 'Chuck' Raymond, chairman and chief executive officer of Horizon Lines.
