House extends TAA 3 months
The U.S. House of Representatives voted to extend the Trade Adjustment Assistance deadline for three months.
TAA, which was scheduled to expire on Sept. 30, provides assistance to train or retrain American workers who lose their jobs as a result of either overseas competition or technological advances.
The Arlington, Va.-based Retail Industry Leaders Association applauded the House-approved TAA extension. “Trade liberalization provides significant benefits to the U.S. economy, but in some instances certain workers can be negatively impacted,” said Stephanie Lester, RILA’s vice president of international trade, in a statement.
