House passes authorization for Army Corps of Engineers
The U.S. House of Representatives approved the Water Resources Development Act of 2003, which authorizes Army Corps of Engineer projects such as river and harbor navigation improvements.
The bill, which passed 412 to 8, will now goes to the Senate. Among its provisions is a decrease from 60 percent to 35 percent in the state and local cost-share (meaning an increase in the federal share) for deep-draft navigation projects for depths between 45 and 53 feet.
