HOUSE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE UNDERGOES STAFF CHANGES

HOUSE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE UNDERGOES STAFF CHANGES

   The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on Friday gave notice of several recent professional staff changes. Committee Chairman Don Young, R-Alaska, said that:

   * Charles Ziegler is now the committee’s deputy chief counsel and parliamentarian. Most recently, he was senior investigations counsel for the investigations and oversight arm of the committee.

   * Levon Boyagian is the new staff director for the Highways and Transit Subcommittee, and he will guide the subcommittee staff through reauthorization of the Transpiration Equity Act for the 21st Century for the next year. TEA-21, signed into law in 1998, authorizes highway and other surface transportation funding until 2003.

   * Bob Faber is now senior counsel for the oversight and investigations activities at the committee.

   * Raga Elim is new special counsel to the committee chairman.

   * Graham Hill has joined the subcommittee as counsel. He has worked thus far on Capitol Hill with U.S. Senators Bob Graham, D-Fla., and Trent Lott, R-Miss, and was once legislative director and counsel to Rep. Chip Pickering, R-Miss.

   * Holly Woodruff Lyons joined the Aviation Subcommittee in May. Prior to that, she served as an attorney in the Federal Aviation Administration Office of the Chief Counsel, Airports and Environmental Law Division.

   * John Pawlow has joined the committee as counsel for the Water Resources and Environmental Subcommittee. He was assistant chief counsel with the Office of Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
