Hub reports record 3Q results

   Hub Group reported record profit of $18.5 million for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, an increase of 14 percent compared to the $16.2 million earned in third quarter of 2011.
   Revenue in the third quarter was $805 million, 7 percent more than the $752 million earned in the same 2011 period.
   The company added that in the third quarter (excluding inter-segment eliminations):

  • Intermodal revenue was $444 million, 11 percent more than the year earlier period. It said the increase was primarily attributable to 9 percent volume growth.
  • Truck brokerage revenue was $88 million, up 6 percent.
  • Unyson Logistics revenue was $87 million, up 14 percent.
  • Mode revenue was $200 million, up 1 percent. (Hub acquired Mode Transportation, an asset-light based third-party logistics company focused on delivering truck brokerage and intermodal services last year.) – Chris Dupin
