HUTCHISON ACQUIRES CRANES FOR XIAMEN CONTAINER TERMINAL
Xiamen International Container Terminals, a joint venture between Hutchison Delta Ports and Xiamen Haicang Ports Co., has taken delivery of two post-Panamax container cranes.
The cranes, built by Shanghai Port Machinery Plant, have a 52-meter (18-row) wide outreach and 41-ton lifting capacity. The cranes will boost the terminal's vessel handling capability by 40 percent, Hutchison said.
'The new quay cranes will accommodate the operation needs of Berth 4, with an additional 140-meter quay and a 78,000-square-meter container yard in XICT,' said Alfred Leung, general manager of Hutchison Delta Ports. 'The increase in facility investments represents HDP's confidence and contributions in Xiamen's hub-port development.'
XICT is a member of Hutchison Port Holdings, the international port investor, developer and operator, which operates 30 ports in 15 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas.
