IATA SAYS FREIGHT TRAFFIC INCREASED 6.5% IN 2002

   The International Air Transport Association said air cargo volumes increased 6.5 percent 2002 and 6.6 percent in December.

   “Asia Pacific carriers ended 2002 with encouraging traffic figures compared with other regions,” said Giovanni Bisignani, chief executive officer and director general of IATA. Freight traffic increased 13.3 percent, in contrast to the results seen for North American and European carriers, he said.
