IMO elects Diaz-Monclus chairman
The International Maritime Organization elected Capt. Luis Diaz-Monclus from Venezuela as chairman, and re-elected Johan Fransom as vice chairman.
Diaz-Monclus is managing director, control of shipping and search and rescue, Venezuelan Maritime Authority, and has a long association with IMO.
IMO, the United Nations specialized agency is responsible for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine pollution by ships.
