Inchape buys Portland Steamship Agency
U.K.-based marine services provider Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has acquired Portland Steamship Agency for an undisclosed amount.
Portland, Maine-based Portland Steamship Agency has undertaken agency services for major tanker principals including Shell, Statoil and Teekay, and handled around 200 port calls last year.
“For ISS, this acquisition adds significant additional volume to our regional portfolio,” said Lars Westerberg, ISS Area General Manager, North and Central America.
ISS said it will be “looking to use its wider leverage to further improve the services on offer and grow the regional business.”
All of Portland Steamship Agency’s staff will remain in the United States apart from president George Markiewicz, who will relocate to Europe, to work in a business development role with ISS.
