Inchcape receives U.S. Navy logistics contract in Middle East
The U.S. Navy has picked Inchcape Shipping Services to be its single regional husbanding contractor for the Fifth Fleet coverage area, which includes 27 countries in the Arabian Gulf, Red Sea and East African region.
The five-year $50 million contact to Inchcape represents the first time the U.S. Navy has awarded a regional contract in the Middle East. The U.S. Navy will use Inchcape as its sole logistics provider, replacing 13 separate contracts in the region.
Under the contract, Inchcape will be responsible for meeting all logistics requirements of U.S. Navy and Coast Guard ships in ports in the Middle East. The company may also be called on to provide services to support training exercises and contingency operations inland, for which Inchcape has selected KBR to serve as its partner.
