Indian government approves Cochin private terminal
The government of India Thursday approved the development of a new container terminal in the port of Cochin, South India, by United Arab Emirates-based Dubai Port International.
The build-operate-transfer project was already approved by the Cochin Port Trust, after Dubai Port International was selected to develop the “International Container Transshipment Terminal” in the port. The Cochin Port Trust said the United Arab Emirates terminal operator will pay it a 33.3-percent share of the revenue of the terminal.
The Cochin Port Trust will issue a letter of intent to Dubai Port International.
