Industrial Terminals adding heavy-lift berth in Houston
Industrial Terminals is adding a third heavy-lift berth on the Houston Ship Channel.
The new berth will open in January and accommodate vessels up to 550 feet in length and with drafts up to 33 feet.
The facility (formerly doing business as the Joe D. Hughes Terminal) will include rail access for direct ship to rail transfer, as well as two rail mounted gantry cranes for the fast handling of general cargoes.
The company said that because of the increasing size and weight of project cargo, the dock will have the highest load capacity of any dock in the region, and rail capacity that exceeds current standards.
Industrial Terminals serves as the load center for Intermarine services and is the region’s leading terminal for the discharge of wind power generation units.
