Intermodal traffic has busiest week
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported Thursday that intermodal traffic on U.S. railroads reached its highest weekly total so far this year during the week ended Aug. 27 at 237,135 trailers or containers, up 4.9 percent from the comparable week last year.
The AAR said volume for the first 34 weeks of 2005 totaled 11.3 million trailers or containers, a 1.4 percent increase on the year-earlier period.
