IPBCC carriers to raise westbound rates
Carriers in the India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ceylon Conference will on Feb. 1 implement a general westbound rate increase for all cargo moving from South Asia to Europe.
The rate increase will be $125 per 20-foot container and $250 per 40-foot container.
'All member lines face considerable increases in costs, and delays and congestion continue to have a detrimental effect on the carrier's ability to operate efficiently,' the IPBCC said in a statement.
Carriers participating in IPBCC are ANL, CMA-CGM, Hapag Lloyd, Evergreen Marine, Hamburg Sud, 'K' Line, MacAndrews, Maersk Line, MISC Berhad, CSAV Norasia, Pakistan National Shipping Corp., Rickmers-Linie, Safmarine, Shipping Corp. of India, United Arab Shipping Co., Yang Ming Line and Zim.
