ITC PUBLISHES 2002 HARMONIZED TARIFF SCHEDULE
The U.S. International Trade Commission has published the 2002 Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States.
Two versions of the document are available on the ITC’s Web site: http://www.usitc.gov/affairs .
The first version, labeled Interim 2002, will apply from Jan. 1 to Jan. 9. It reflects changes made to the tariff as a result of the U.S. government’s free trade agreement with Jordan.
The second version, labeled 14th edition, will apply on Jan. 10. It reflects amendments to the tariff that resulted from the World Customs Organization’s 1999 adoption of amendments in the nomenclature of the global Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System, on which the U.S. tariff schedule is based.
The second version of the tariff schedule has also been forwarded to the Government Printing Office for printing. Information on ordering printed or CD-ROM copies of the 2002 tariff schedule should be directed to the GPO at http://bookstore.gpo.gov/subscriptions/subs009.html#001. Printing of these documents will take a number of weeks, the ITC said.
