Jamaican furniture operation opts for foam factory
The furniture manufacturer Boss Furniture has invested $73 million in a Kingston foam materials factory in a move aimed a reducing the need to import foam in containers.
A report in the Jamaica Observer said Boss CEO Omar Azan said the company is vertically integrating its operations by launching the factory to produce polyurethane foam, the raw material needed for bedding and furniture manufactured by Boss.
Azan said the company had been importing 180 containers of bulking foam each year, but now needs only 10 containers of the liquid needed to make the foam.
