June inbound box traffic up 28% at Long Beach
The Port of Long Beach's inbound traffic of loaded containers soared 28 percent year-on-year in June to 260,752 TEUs.
Outbound volume of full boxes also rose 16 percent in June to 82,218 TEUs.
The port said it handled 151,128 empty TEUs in June, a 36-percent increase, bringing the total port traffic to 494,098 TEUs, up 28 percent.
For the first six months of the year, inbound traffic was up 19 percent while outbound volume rose 14 percent, the port reported.
The neighboring port of Los Angeles has not yet published its June container statistics.
