Jurong Port throughput on the rise
Jurong Port in Singapore said Thursday that container volume has grown to 525,000 TEUs from January through July, a 53.5 percent climb over the same period in 2004.
The port, second-largest in the country to the Port of Singapore, handles a mixture of bulk, breakbulk and container cargo. The port attributes the growth in containers to existing customers introducing three new services to the port last year.
In 2004, the port's TEU counts grew 200 percent month to month.
