“K” Line to establish European joint venture agencies
Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. will establish new agency companies in six European countries under joint venture agreements with its present local agents.
Effective Jan. 1, Scan Shipping A/S, “K” Line’s current agents in Scandinavia, will co-establish “K” Line (Denmark) A/S, “K” Line (Norway) AS and “K” Line (Sweden) AB with offices in Copenhagen, Lysaker and Gothenburg, respectively.
In Spain, Berge Negocios Maritmos S.L. and “K” Line will create “K” Line (Espa'a) Servicios Mar'timos S.A. with the main office in Bilbao. In Portugal, Garland Laidley, SGPS S.A. and “K” Line will establish “K” Line (Portugal)-Agentes de Navega''o S.A. with its main office in Lisbon. Lastly, “K” Line’s agents in Turkey, Dolfin Shipping Transport and Trading Inc. will co-establish “K” Line Shipping Agency A.S. with its main office in Istanbul.
The Japanese ocean carrier said the decision to establish the joint venture agencies in these countries was because “respective cargo movements have been on the increase and appear to be more and more promising in the future.”
