ôKö Line VLCC collides with submarine
A 160,229-gross-ton very large crude carrier operated by Japanese shipping line 'K' Line Monday night collided with a submarine after passing the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf of Oman.
The accident occurred at 10:45 p.m. local time as the vessel 'Mogamigawa' was sailing for Singapore.
'K' Line said there were no injuries to crew or oil leakage, although the bottom part of the ship's ballast tank was damaged. The 'Mogamigawa' is headed for the nearest port for closer inspection. The Japanese line said the condition of the submarine is unknown.
