Kaine in Canada to encourage exports
Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine is in Canada this week on his first trade mission since taking office in January.
Canada is Virginia’s largest trading partner. Kaine will meet companies that have already invested in the state and work to cement new business ties, his office announced.
Virginia’s annual exports to Canada are estimated at $2.59 billion per year, led by construction equipment, industrial machinery, computers and computer components, compressors, plastics and paperboard.
Accompanying Kaine to Montreal and Toronto are Secretary of Trade and Commerce Patrick Gottschalk, and Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Robert Bloxom.
