Kalmar offers low-emission yard cranes
Swedish crane manufacturer Kalmar has introduced a low-emission rubber-tired gantry crane that seeks to take advantage of the more stringent pollution limits on port handling equipment.
The new “E-One” crane has a low-emission diesel engine and is fitted with electric trolley, wheel turning and spreader.
Kalmar said the new yard crane burns less fuel that other cranes, and will meet the latest environmental requirements.
The crane speeds are adjusted according to the load under the spreader. Unlike conventional rubber-tired gantry cranes, which have constantly running hydraulics, the Kalmar crane’s electrical power can be used only when needed, the company said.
