KANSAS CITY SOUTHERN NAMES FORMER DOT SECRETARY SLATER TO BOARD
Kansas City Southern Industries said it has named former U.S. Transportation Secretary Rodney E. Slater to its board of directors.
Slater served as DOT secretary from 1997 until the end of the Clinton Administration in January. Prior to becoming secretary, he was head of the Federal Highway Administration. He currently is a partner in the public policy practice group Patton Boggs LLP and serves as head of the firm's transportation practice group in Washington.
Kansas City Southern Industries is a holding company whose primary subsidiary is Class 1 railroad Kansas City Southern Railway Co. KCSI also has investments in the Texas Mexican Railway, Transportacion Ferroviaria Mexicana and the Panama Canal Railway Co.
