Keller appointed chairman of U.S. carrier equipment association

   Peter I. Keller, executive vice president and chief operating officer of NYK Line in the United States, has been appointed chairman of the “ocean carrier equipment management association agreement,” a carrier agreement filed with the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission.

   Keller will succeed Bill Hamlin, the former head of APL in North America, who has been chairman of the carrier grouping for the past two years.

   Keller has been a member of the senior steering committee of the ocean carrier equipment management association agreement since February 2003.

   Keller also serves as a member of the board of directors of the Pacific Maritime Shipping Association, the New York Shipping Association, the U.S. Maritime Exchange, and the Intermodal Transportation Institute of the University of Denver.

   The ocean carrier equipment management association agreement is a discussion and lobby group of carriers about operational and safety in intermodal transportation of ocean freight within the U.S.

   The members of the ocean carrier equipment management association agreement.are APL, CMA CGM, COSCO, CP Ships, Crowley Maritime Corp., Compania Sud Americana de Vapores, Evergreen, Hamburg Sud, Hanjin Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai, “K” Line, Maersk Sealand, MOL, NYK Line, OOCL, P&O Nedlloyd and Yang Ming. Atlantic Container Line said recently that it would join the carrier equipment association.
