Knight acquires Idaho reefer company
Knight Transportation Inc., a large, national truckload carrier based in Phoenix, said it has completed the purchase of Edward Brothers Inc., which specializes in refrigerated loads.
Edward Brothers, which also brokers freight to other carriers, generates about $25 million to $30 million in revenue and has been marginally profitable, according to Knight. Edward Brothers will eventually operate under the Knight Refrigerated name.
Knight, one of the most profitable truckload carriers in the nation, said it will work to bring the Edwards operations up to its operational standards and expects the transaction to contribute to earnings within two full quarters.
Knight said it plans to retain most of Edward’s independent drivers and only serve customers that make a profit for the carrier.
