Komatsu picks Kenco as 3PL for remanufacturing operations

Komatsu America Corp. (KAC), a subsidiary of Japan’s Komatsu International, has selected Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Kenco Group as third-party logistics provider for its remanufacturing operations in Lexington, Ky.

Established in the United States in 1970, Rolling Meadows, Ill.-headquartered KAC is the second-largest, fully integrated manufacturer and supplier of construction equipment in North America. It has manufacturing plants in Chattanooga; Newberry, S.C.; Peoria, Ill.; and Candiac, Quebec. Its remanufacturing operations are handled out of the Lexington facility.

'We were looking for ways to streamline operations, so that we could focus more on our core business,' said Rob Shear, KAC's Lexington plant manager. 'Kenco already had a proven track record with our Chattanooga operation, so it was a natural to bring them on board as our 3PL provider.'

'Remanufacturing is a tremendously fast-growing business in the United States and within the Komatsu organization,' Shear said. 'By remanufacturing components for construction and mining equipment, there's not only a significant cost advantage for customers, but also a huge benefit to the environment.'
