KUEHNE & NAGEL PHASE 2 CARGO 2000 ACCREDITATION
Kuehne & Nagel said Monday it is the first logistics provider to be awarded Phase 2 quality accreditation from Cargo 2000, an interest group of air carriers and forwarders.
While Phase 1 of the Cargo 2000 initiative focused on monitoring airport-to-airport processes, Phase 2 focuses on the planning and controlling of the entire door-to-door process chain.
The core of the new system calls for information technology-supported controls and measures of each transaction within the process chain against the route map planned for every consignment by the logistics provider. In case of failures, alarms are set off to initiate corrective action immediately. Kuehne & Nagel’s system has been based on software modules from leading vendors in Europe and the United States.
“The implementation of phases one and two of Cargo 2000 marks a further step in our efforts, and provides an increased value to our customers,” said Reinhard Lange, member of the Kuehne& Nagel International Management Board.
With more than 17,000 employees in 98 countries, Kuehne & Nagel Group focuses on air freight and contract logistics businesses and IT-based supply chain management services.
Cargo 2000 is an interest group affiliated with the Montreal-based International Air Transport Association.
