KUEHNE & NAGEL SIGNS GLOBAL CONTRACT WITH NORTEL NETWORKS
Kuehne & Nagel, the Swiss forwarder and logistics provider, said Thursday it has signed a contract to become the lead logistics provider worldwide for Nortel Networks, a provider of communications solutions.
Under terms of the agreement, Kuehne & Nagel will manage all of Nortel Networks’ outbound logistics operations. “This will allow us to strengthen core competencies,” said Richard Lowe, Nortel's vice president of supply chain operations.
About 95 Nortel logistics employees, based in 18 countries, are expected to join Kuehne & Nagel, which will oversee import and export processes, inventory management, warehousing and distribution, and transportation of shipments.
Kuehne & Nagel, based in Schindellegi, Switzerland, maintains a strategic alliance with SembCorp Logistics in Singapore. Last year, K&N acquired USCO Logistics in the United States.
