Kuo returns to U.S. to oversee Evergreen’s operations
Capt. Shiuan-Yu “S.Y.” Kuo, a former chairman of Evergreen America Corp., has returned to the United States from Taiwan to oversee the Taiwanese company’s interests in North America.
Kuo will retain the title of vice chairman of the Evergreen group, immediately below group chairman and founder Yung-fa Chang. The Evergreen group comprises Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan) Ltd., EVA Air and other companies.
Kuo was instrumental in commencing Evergreen’s container services in U.S. trades nearly 30 years ago. He has worked for the Evergreen group in the United States, the United Kingdom and Taiwan.
Prior to his return to the states, Kuo served three years as chairman of Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan), the listed maritime arm of the group. Kuo-Cheng “K.C.” Chang, son of Yung-fa Chang, succeeds Kuo as chairman of Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan).
